Catechesis at St. Peter's Parish

Our parish offers catechesis both in the traditional instructional style, and through the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

Instructional Catechesis

Catechists lead the classes through a systematic study of the doctrine and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church. Catechesis is classroom based and teaching is imparted using a set curriculum, which consists of a mixture of verbal instruction, study, discussion and prayer. The catechist seeks to follow in the footsteps of the Apostles by cultivating in each child a deep love for Jesus Christ and a thorough knowledge of the beauty and truths of the Catholic Faith. 

Class Offerings

Grades 4-5; 6-7; and Confirmation classes, which begin in 8th Grade. Please click below for an outline of the Confirmation Program.

Tuition

The cost is $30 per child or $50 maximum, which covers the cost of books and other activities. Payments can be made with cash or check (made out to St. Peter's Parish, with 'Faith Formation' in the memo line) or by clicking the link below.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

CGS is an approach to religious formation for children ages 3-9 that is rooted in the Bible, the Liturgy, and the education principles of Dr. Maria Montessori. It seeks to create and facilitate a sacred, hands-on space called an "Atrium" where children gather to hear the Word of God and work with simple yet beautiful materials that allow them to encounter, learn and celebrate the essential mysteries and teachings of the Roman Catholic faith in a hands-on way. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a mixed age program where children receive one-on-one and group presentations, designed to meet their developmental needs, and foster their relationship with God. 

Atrium

Level I is ages 3-6; Level II is ages 6-9

Classes are offered Sunday 10:30am-11:45am; and Monday 1:00pm-2:30pm

Tuition

The cost for parishioners is $65 per child, $50 for second child, and $35 for each additional child.

The cost for non-parishioners is $100 per child, $75 for second child, and $50 for each additional child.
